Yesterday (1 September 2021) was the deadline to submit National Team’s Entry Form for the European Water Polo Championships 2022 – both for Men’s and Women’s Competition.
As it was announced on the occasion of the LEN Congress held in St Petersburg on 11th May 2019 a new Qualification system to the European Water Polo Championships will be implemented starting from the edition Split 2022 on.
A significant change is that the Qualification groups are already seeded according to the geographical positioning taking into consideration that all European Federations are invited to enter the event. Each Federation therefore will have to only whether or not confirm its participation.
The new concept and system of play is based on groups formed by geographical positioning and European ranking thus giving the possibility to all European Federations to enter the European Water Polo Championships and play at different level.
Men’s Qualification Rounds are scheduled on 5-7 November 2021 and 18 – 20 February 2022.
The Final Tournament is to be played by sixteen (16) Men’s teams and twelve (12) Women’s teams in Split, Croatia on 27 August – 10 September 2022.
